So it has been about 12 years since we were in the Karaoke business. It was both exciting and intimidating to get back on that ride after so long. In addition to that we added a computer into the mix that came with it’s own set of issues and blessings.

We are going to do this again April 27th 9:30 - 12:30 at Elk’s Lodge #8 on Klondike Lane. Come check it out.

The quality of singers was amazing, then later in the evening the rowdy not so great singers showed up. I think I like this group the best because the certainly know that it is all about having fun, but I gotta tell you…that first group was awesome!

Falling Behind In 2012

Well here it is April 1st and I am already 3 months behind posting all of the goings on with Sound Entertainment. January kept up at the same frantic pace that December was so it was almost as if it were just one long month or continuation.

Let’s see, January was all about Elementary school events and Mitzvah’s. February brought a Shakespeare themed Bar Mitzvah for Ethan Vitaz at the Palace Theater. This was a very cool event complete with costumes and themed food. We created some special activities to tie into the Renaissance feel of things. It was very fun!

The NEXT DAY we were off to our annual DJ Convention in Las Vegas to catch up with all our friends and learn/share new ideas. After a week it was back home and back to the school event scene.

March was Jr. Prom season and few more Family Fun nights. We also started back into the Karaoke world after an 8 year hiatus. There may be more of this in the near future. Finished out March with Collegiates mix grade Prom and had a great time.

Now it is time to focus on Wedding season, more Mitzvah’s and a few more school events. I hope to keep up with all…

TMW Tour 2011

Just finished two awesome parties.

The first was in St Louis and was an action packed evening.

Next Stop was Oklahoma City for an intimate party of around 80 people. A good time was had by all at both events and was a great experience for me as well.

Michael's Bar Mitzvah

Saturday was a great night! We performed for Michael Evans and his family and friends. We introduced two new party motivators to the group.

Rachel and Deborah along with Nate and Jenny were awesome!

Everyone had a great time.

2011 KAHCF Convention at the Galt House

Evansville Bar Mitzvah

Congratulations to Marc on his Bar Mitzvah! We love partying in Evansville, the people there know how to have a good time.

This was our second event for this family and we certainly enjoyed serving them. It is great when your clients become your friends as so many of our do.

Looking forward to next Saturdays Mitzvah now. Roll on!

Currently in the great North East Mixing Music for the Men’s Wearhouse Holiday Tour.

This is year 9 for me actually touring and DJing and year 10 being involved with the music. The parties start Nov. 4th and continue through Dec. 18th ending in California.

This has been an amazing opportunity and it has certainly been a lot of fun.

Walk A Thon's a plenty

Just finished a couple of fun Walk A Thon FUNdraisers.

Wilder Elementary and Kammerer Middle School. Both had a great group of people pulling them together and their PTA’s and PTSA’s were awesome to work with!

I hope they surpass their goals!

As you can see by the pictures below July is all about pool parties. August however, is all about Back To School and Bar/Bat Mitzvah season. Preparations are being made for an assortment of parties and school events along with a wedding or two as a bonus.

I am hoping to to chronicle all the fun and highlight some of the festivities here. While I don’t follow tradition “Website” criteria it has been great to receive the feedback that I have. Thank you. I will continue to try and make it interesting.

We have been successful at showing Brides and Grooms how to create personal Save the Date Greeting cards for less than $2.00 a card and each card can be specific to recipient. You can’t do that anywhere for $2.00. This can also be done with Thank You Cards, Holiday Cards, Birthday Cards, Birth Announcements etc.

Weddings and Babies

Saturday night I had the privilege and honor to MC & DJ Lee and Katy O’Connor’s Wedding reception. The event was held at the newly renovated WoodHaven Country Club and there were 320+ people in attendance.

The Bride and Groom were awesome and looked fantastic, the guests were enthusiastic and danced until midnight. Everyone had a great time. The Staff on hand worked their magic flawlessly. What a great night.

MONDAY JUNE 6TH

Baby G came into the world happy and healthy. Mom and baby are doing great and now the only issue is working out a schedule of who gets to hold him and when.

We are blessed!

2011 Project Graduation

As Project Graduation comes to a close for me this year I leave Hawaii with a lot of great memories this season. While the events are very long days, up to 20 hours when you consider loading, setup, performance, striking, travel, and off loading, they are very fulfilling knowing we are creating memories and keeping these Graduates safe.

Friday night was filled with games, game show, levitation, dancing, and hypnosis, while Saturdays event was filled with more dancing and arcade games. Both were huge successes.

Waianae High School

was Friday night at the Ko’olau Ballrooms & Conference Center.

Kailua High School was Saturday night at Dave and Busters.

Both events were action packed and a good time was had by all.

One of the great things about coming to Hawaii and performing at these events is working with the many professionals that I do. From my good friend Dave Louis of Dynamic Sounds to the staff at each location, these people are just awesome.

Collegiate Prom

Last nights event was at Actors Theater. This place is really nice for a small group of 200 or so. The event was Collegiate’s Prom and we had a blast. What a great group of kids. There were actually a brother and sister in attendance that we did their Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s. That really makes it special.

Finishing up everything I can before flying to Hawaii for Project Graduation. I know, but somebody has to do it….

Nearing The End Of The School Year

As I stated in my last entry things are moving pretty fast around here.

We just completed 2 successful Mitzvah’s in Evansville, In. and several school dances. We have Proms coming up this Saturday and a few more dances, and did I happen to mention I leave to DJ in Hawaii again next week. All that and this matter of a baby on the way.

Currently I am finishing up video projects for various school graduations. My son will complete 5th Grade this year and his school (Bowen) will have a big graduation ceremony. I can’t believe this will be my last year at Bowen as well. 12 years goes by pretty fast.

More to follow so stay tuned. We have several weddings coming up and I will try and deliver as much useful information on those events as I can.

Too Many Irons In The Fire

It seems as I try and do my best to keep everything updated I never get it all done. Being busy is good I’m told.

For the next several months there will be travel on the calendar. In April we had two events in Evansville. Later this month I will be DJing in Hawaii again and next month is Tennessee and hopefully back to Hawaii for a much needed vacation. Baby G should be here at the end of this month so things will be crazy I’m sure.

This past weekend we had a Middle School Dance and a Bat Mitzvah. Mazel Tov to Hannah and her family. It was an amazing night and everyone had a great time.

In the “Is it a trend?” department, as more and more new DJs flood the market I am getting calls from schools that have used some of these new guys and have learned that cheaper isn’t always better. It seems these new DJs are playing inappropriate music for the age groups they are dealing with. They are hooking the schools based on low price. Once in they are not able to demonstrate their knowledge of the situation and often rely on just the music and the input of the staff to tell them what they should be doing. This has multiple side effects and is probably why many schools are going away from having dances at all. NOTE TO ALL PTSA, PTA, and SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS: Part of the reason these so called DJs are so cheap is because they do not have a clue as to what they are doing. Its not just about playing music!
